Caelyn D. Williams (she/her) is an actress and singer residing in Baltimore, MD. A natural-born performer, she got her start at the age of 9 traveling as a duo, with her piano playing brother, to different churches singing gospel music. She quickly found her love of theatre and has performed across the DMV for over15 years under her maiden name, Caelyn Sommerville. You might have seen her regionally as Emmie Thibodeaux in Caroline, or Change (Elden Street Players), Eve/Mama Noah in Children of Eden (2nd Star Productions) and Mimi Marquez in RENT (Silhouette Stages). Not just versed in standard musical theatre, Caelyn has been a featured soloist numerous times and has performed in devised/experimental shows as well. Recently married, she is excited to expand her performing career under her new name.
Caelyn is grateful for the several critically-acclaimed performers and instructors that have taught her what she knows. She has studied closely with acclaimed director and choreographer, Matthew Gardiner (Artistic Director of Signature Theatre), Tracy Lynn Olivera (Ragtime), Gregory Wooddell (The Lyons and Cymbeline) and award-winning choreographer Rickey Tripp. Caelyn has also participated and performed in masterclasses given by Alex Brightman (School of Rock, Beetlejuice) and SAG winner & Academy Award nominee Ariana DeBose (West Side Story, Hamilton, The Prom). She is a vocal student of Kevin McAllister (Caroline, or Change; Come From Away).
Caelyn was awarded the Andrew A. Isen Young Artist Gift Award by Signature Theatre for her work ethic, growth and contribution to the craft. She was most recently seen at Olney Theatre’s Summerfest where they celebrated their 70th anniversary of musicals where she sang “Waiting for Life” from Once on This Island. She is one half of the music group, One Reality, who just released a single, “That Somethin,” on all streaming platforms. Caelyn is also a voiceover actress, lending her voice to projects like the audiobook, Reverse Transmissions. She also voice recorded mindfulness audios for Clymb, an emotional wellness software for youth.
When not on stage, Caelyn’s most likely at home with her wife (Ashley), daughter (Zora) and dog (Pepper) watching the ID channel. She is a student of Swami Nityananda and practices ancient yogic teachings and meditation techniques at Awake Yoga Meditation. She loves to travel, eat copious amounts of good food, and be out in nature.
